Competition & rules
Rules
The tournament is played according to the World Curling Federation rules and applies the five-rock rule as well as the no tick rule. The event starts Thursday afternoon and finishes with the final midday Sunday.
LSD
Two LSDs thrown before the first game will decide the hammer in the first game. Two stone practice per team is allowed. First team listed in the schedule plays first.
Thereafter two LSD’s are played after each game, where the ice is better than before a game. No practice stones allowed. In the following game the team with the best LSD’s from the previous game will get the hammer. An accumulated LSD score (worst LSD is deducted) is calculated at the end of the group play, to break possible ties.
Each player must play two LSD’s: one with either turn. LSD starts with clockwise rotation followed by anti-clockwise.
Ranking
Teams are ranked in the group after:
- W/L record.
2. W/L between the tied teams.
3. Accumulated LSD score after group play.
Games
First team in the schedule plays first stones and red color.
All matches are played over 8 ends with an extra end if necessary. If no points scored in the extra end the teams will play one draw to the button for the game. The team with the hammer in the extra end will decide which team draws first. Free choice of turn for the first team. The opposing team plays the opposite turn.
Group Stage
Separate junior women and mens competition with 2 groups of 5 teams.
All teams are guaranteed 4 games.
First game will be Friday noon/afternoon. We will send an e-mail as soon as possible giving the time for your first game. Program will be available before the tournament begins.
Playoffs
8 teams move on to quarterfinals where no 1 ranked team plays no 8 ranked team and so on.
The highest ranked team from the group stage chooses hammer or color in all the playoff games.
