Oslo cup

Oslo Cup, played at Snarøya curling rink in Oslo is hosting 15 men's and 15 women's teams for a total purse of 162 000,- nok. 


The mens event in 2022 saw Swedens team Edin clinch the title in the final against Norways team Walstad.


In the womens event team Hasselborg from Sweden won in a measured last stone in eight end against Canadas team Lawes.


Who will win this prestigious event in 2023? As always there will be a banquet Saturday at the players hotel. Banquet-tickets for 4 players are included in entry fee.

Competition & rules

About the event


Oslo Cup will be played at Snarøya curling rink in Oslo and will host 15 men's and 15 women's teams. The tournament is played according to the World Curling Federation rules and applying the five-rock rule as well as the no tick rule.

The event starts Thursday afternoon and finishes with final mid-day Sunday. All teams are guaranteed 4 games.


Practice & LSD

10 minutes before scheduled starting time there is 5 min practice per team where team first on the schedule plays first with red stones. Team that has had practice plays one LSD. First team chooses anti clockwise or clockwise rotation. Next team plays the opposite rotation.

This LSD is to decide hammer and later used if internal results isn’t enough to decide playoff-teams. The worst LSD is later removed from results.


Practice and LSD will be announced.


Game

All matches are played over 8 ends with an extra end if necessary. If no points are scored in the extra end the teams will play one draw to the button for the game.

Team with hammer in the extra end will decide which team draws first. Free choice of turn for the first team. The second team plays the opposite turn.


Group Stage

The women’s teams have 3 groups of 5 teams where top 8 overall go on to the quarterfinals.

1st-8th, 2nd-7th, 3rd-6th, 4th-5th.

Highest ranked team from group stage decides hammer or color through playoffs.


The men’s teams have 3 groups of 5 teams where top 8 overall go on to the quarterfinals. . 1st-8th, 2nd-7th, 3rd-6th, 4th-5th.

Closest airport is Gardermoen and is less than an hour away with car or train.


Hotel

Players hotel will be Quality Hotel EXPO Fornebu just 10 minutes walk from the rink. There are a limited of reserved rooms with discounts. Book these rooms through our webshop.


The banquet will be held at one of the restaurants at this hotel. This hotel is a big, modern hotel with coffeebars, restaurants and activities for everyone. With it's close location to the rink we are happy that they can accommodate participants in this event.
